"BRASSIQUE" The Original Online Barterplace

Brassique - Bartering Coveted Things. Buy, Sell, Swap, Share and Promote Delectable and Collectable goods, handmade items and skills in the Original Online Barterplace

Mission
To establish Brassique as the worldwide British Barterplace which allows members to trade in a way they want and at no cost, as part of a characterful online community, within a site and system that benefits all involved!
 Bartering Coveted Things
Brassique defines Coveted things as - Delectables, Handmade items and Skills. Delectables include antiques, vintage items, collectable or generally gorgeous and desirable pieces of clothing, jewellery, accessories, furniture and technological gadgetry - modern or otherwise!
General information
Brassique's economy is one of trading possessions and skills alongside Brassique’s very own barter tokens instead of money. Members use their talents and possessions as a form of currency. By trading the things they no longer need, savvy barterers get the things they want, or reap rewards from the clever and wonderful stuff they can do.
Launch is due early summer 2012 to an initially limited membership of 1000 people. Each and every one of the 1000 members will receive a ‘Founding Coster’ status within the site, including a badge to display on their profile as recognition and thanks for joining us at the start. There will also be special opportunities for those who feel they’d like a more socially active role within the site, for example, an area of expertise, or interest they would be willing to share with others.

There are still Memberships, or Costerships as we like to term them, available from www.brassique.com too if you are a Coster at heart! You’ll be taken to Paypal to pay your £5 joining fee, so just to reassure you...if we get taken over by Pirates and don’t make it to our launch (never going to happen) we guarantee you’ll get your fiver back…Coster’s Honour!

Och Aye it's a Candle-icious Giveaway

I am whisking you off to Bonnie Scotland today to meet Junie who runs an online store called Candle-icious. Based in Paisley Renfrewshire, Junie has been married for almost 14 years and has a 12 year old daughter Lucy. After having worked in an office as a legal secretary for 30 years she was made redundant Christmas 2011. Over the past year in her spare time she has been busy making decorated and personalised candles, and when she started receiving custom orders of 30 candles or more she decided it was time to take her business to another level and Candle-icious was born.

Fancy a Lochness monster Candle, a Scottish sheep! Playing the bagpipes or dancing the Highland fling? (Clever sheep we have in Scotland). Or how about a personalised candle. You can discuss with Junie what you would like added to your candle.

Now for the giveaway! The winner can have their candle personalised by the fair hands of Junie and all you have to do is like Junie's Fan page HERE. Please also leave the word "TAPER"  on my blog and if you are already a fan then just add "WICK" and your name will be entered. Giveaway is  open worldwide and a winner will be picked on the 1st April. Value approx $15

"Pure" Andrew Miller Costa Novel Award 2011

Deep in the heart of Paris, its oldest cemetery is overflowing, tainting the very breath of those who live nearby.

On reading this book, I felt like I had been transported to Paris before the revolution, it’s1785, a decaying city and on the brink of change, disgusting smells and very odd subcultures, vivid descriptions of meals, smells, people, clothing and wigs that probably harbored more than just the hair of the heads they adorned. I even caught myself having the odd scratch on reading this.
Andrew Miller in my opinion deserves every penny of his 2011 Costa Novel Award. I loved it

A Handmade House Warming Gift

My daughter and family moved into their new house a few weeks ago and she now has her own space to create a sewing area. She has been smitten with the craft bug! And she/we are having fun working together when we get a chance, so I decided I would make her a little organiser for her to hang next to her work area. I saw something similar on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to try out, so yet again I went through my materials (still in the same state as last week, now only worse) and I found an old flowery dress, some linen (of course) and a few other wee bits and bobs. I embroidered “my sewing room” across the top and added a little mannequin who is now wearing her own mini version of the dress with a lace petticoat, a little basket with tooth picks and beads for knitting needles, a couple of pin cushions and a few pockets. I hope she likes it as it took me an age to finish! Will be taking it up to her in the next few days, so will let you know the verdict. What do you think, will she?

Got 2 exciting giveaways that I am just putting together, more on them later.
