June and Me

My Bargain at last weeks car boot sale a Calico creamer and sugar bowl for a mere €3

I was wearing flip flops in the garden and slipped on a stone and the funniest response I got was from my Scottish friend Mary who posted this comment on my face book wall, it was the best tonic ever and still makes me chuckle.

"I don’t want to alarm you but what the hell is that poking out of that black bit ? Did I see it winking at me ? Is it an alien simeon that’s latched onto you just as you fell down ? Or maybe it wasn’t a bloody stone after all it, could have been a shape shifter now residing in your would waiting to feed of your blood and drain you to a husk over night.
That said there’s no easy way to say this Chrissie but I think you’re a goner !"

Playing with the silk ribbon again this time I tried making a fuchsia and coloured the silk myself with pro marker pens

These lilies are like a ray of sunshine

This is one of my favourite shrubs it's a Pineapple Guava or the Latin name for it is Acca Sellowiana. The fruit is edible although I have yet to grow one to try it out

Over 30,000 stitches on this piece of embroidery and it seemed to take forever in fact just over two hours and 13 colour changes on the machine. Amazing detail though

And finally this photo which was taken last week by my girlfriend and photographer Lavada, she managed to create this very atmospheric shot and at the same time made me at 61 look a zillion years younger into the bargain. I wish I could apply photo shop for real....:)

Musee de la Mode - Albi

I spent another fabulous day at the Musee de La Mode in Albi with my friend Sue. Each year a new theme is displayed from April to December and this was our 3rd visit. We are looking forward to the next and we do not even know what it will be. We were both left in awe of such a stunning collection and display of lace work and the most exquisite embroidery. So if you are going to be in Albi I highly recommend a visit and the entry fee is only €6.

Drink your self Slim! Yeah right

I saw a post on face book the other day regarding a detox concoction of ginger, mint, lemon, and cucumber, with a line stating "Lose 1lb per hour"! find that impossible to believe but the proof is in the pudding or in this case a drink , a bold statement indeed.  I like all the ingredients so I set out and made it (recipe at the bottom of post). It's now in the fridge to chill overnight.

7.30 following morning  I decided to weigh myself (63.9 kilos)  just in case this turns out to be a miracle weight loss drink I wanted to check any progress or lack of it.  I poured myself a glass and gave it a good sniff before tasting it and have to say I loved the smell. On tasting it I was pleasantly surprised as it has a taste of ginger ale without the fizz.

It's now 4.37 in the afternoon and I have had 4 glasses so far today, my stomach has been making the weirdest rumbling & gurgling noises the last half hour. I was a bit worried that this might act as a laxative so was slightly nervous with the rumblings.

Day two and I have had another 4 glasses and the jug is now empty. (slight sigh of relief). Tomorrow I will weigh myself and I can almost predict what my weight will be, can't say my jeans feel any looser today. Also pleased to report that it did not act as a laxative ..  and all rumblings have now ceased.

Although I found this drink quite pleasant it's not something that I would drink every day but if you fancy giving it a go then here's how.

1.5 litres water
2tsp grated ginger
1/2 a cucumber peeled and chopped
1 lemon sliced
15 mint leaves chopped
1tsp dried mint

add all the above to the water and chill overnight, I then strained mine into a glass before drinking, did not fancy trying to drink it with all the bits in it.

ps.. weighed in at 63.9 so no change, perhaps if I didn't eat anything and only drank the liquid I may have lost a kilo or so but would have gained a blinding headache..If you do try it let me know what you thought of it

Little time for Blogging

My first attempt at making fushia flowers with Silk Ribbon Embroidery, I used white silk and dyed the colours I choose for this satin pouch.
Satin Shoe clips with gorgeous embellishments

Have a few more cushions to finish using this huge bird pattern

Two custom orders for jewelery pouches which I love making

I used to wear Peter Pan Collars years ago so I made this to dress up a white t-shirt, really makes a difference. On my list to do to make a few other colours.

A laundry bag which is great if you don't have the space for a laundry basket.

So all in all I have found it a challenge to find the time to blog these past couple of weeks and I bet I am not alone in this,

Happy weekend xx

In Love With May

What's not to love about the month of May? The garden just seems to suddenly burst into life and colour where just a few days ago there were just a few buds to be seen here and there, then boom they are all trying to outdo each other waving at you saying look at me I am back...

You don't need me to tell you what this is
Black Sambucus with delicious pink flowers
Clematis
 David Austin Rose
Standard rose is full this year

 Weigela
Afternoon snooze if I am lucky
Glass of wine later under the shade perhaps

At 10am this morning the temperature was sitting at 25c and now at almost 6pm it is 29.7c in the shade. I spent less than 30 minutes in the garden as it was just way to hot for me to do anything. But despite the heat I love May. Do you have a favourite month?
