I declare today an International Lemon Curd Day

I looooooooove lemon Curd and decided to make some this morning, it took me right back to my childhood when I used to stand  and watch my mum make it, waiting eagerly for the bowl to lick clean, the smell of the lemon zest and butter makes your mouth water. It is raining this morning and is dark grey outside, do I care? not a bit. Pot of tea and hot crusty bread with a generous dollop of Lemon Curd and it is instant sunshine.

Happy Lemon Curd Day

Spring in Seville

I have wanted to go to Seville for many years and last week my dream came true. What an amazing city bursting with  life and energy, and being spring all the Jasmine, Orange blossom, bougainvillea were throwing out perfume in abundance. We were to stay for 7 days but got caught up in and Air Traffic Control strike, our flights were cancelled and we had to wait another 3 days to get home which at first did not please us one bit I can tell you, but you then resign yourself and make the most of it which we did...
Visiting the Maria Lusia Park is a must if you visit Seville, the park stretches along the Guadalquivir  River and is  home to many  monuments, ponds and fountains.

This one below is of the three ages of womanhood being my  absolute favourite monument in the park, stare at it long enough and you can almost see their dresses flutter in the breeze.

You could literary spend hours in this park just strolling, listening to the birdsong, watching the parrots and breathing in the scent from the Orange blossom or you could take a horse and carriage ride round the park.

The park also houses the Museum of Arts & Traditions which blew me away with the lace and embroidered work displayed. The lace is behind glass hence the not so brilliant photos.

The Plaza de Espana  which is right next to the Maria Lusia  park is a landmark example of the Renaissance Revival style in Spanish architecture. Breathtakingly beautiful, the tiles alone are just exquisite.

As for our poor feet they are in dire need of some tender loving care as we averaged about 10 klms walking every day. If you have ever been tempted to visit Seville then all I can say is go for it and take a good pair of walking shoes.

A Quick March Round the Garden this Morning

What a beautiful day here in the Tarn this morning, glorious sunshine although still a nip in the air but it's going to be deliciously warm in the next few hours. I spent most of the day yesterday weeding, thee most hated job digging up millions of wild garlic and the more you dig them up the more they seem to multiply. I was going to throw my poppy seeds over a patch that I had cleared but the wind choose to do it for me, it blew the dish of the table and as to where they landed  I have no idea but might find out in a few weeks time if they germinate.

Come What May

Have to say not the best May weather wise I have experienced here in the South of France, in fact it has to be the wettest, coldest in the 15 years that I have lived here, the fire is still on and I am sitting here with  a big polo necked jumper and thick socks. My mind is telling me it should be t-shirt weather, sitting on the patio putting the world to rights over a few glasses, perhaps a BBQ  and watching the sunset. Still the birds are singing their little heads of and the garden is blooming and everything is very green and lush, and I really should not complain.

I  managed to get a little gardening in and discovered one of my white roses has a tinge of pink which is really quite interesting.

Picked our first crop of green beans
Made these little kimono slippers for my girlfriends baby due soon

Now these are quite something else they remind me of chicks hatching and although I have no recollection of planting these have found their common name is Sicilian Honey Lily and if you are feeling brave try saying this  Nectarscordium Siculum.  The bees adore these and I love the way they hang upside down.
I.

What else, oh yes I got these fabulous vintage scissors at a car boot sale a couple of weeks ago and they are still remarkable sharp which surprised me.
This allium called Mount Everest given to me by my daughter, and  I have to say I was very sceptical at first but the plant opened and is quite beautiful, next year I hope to have a few more.
I had a custom order last week for a Ring Warming Ceremony pouch, and as I had never heard of this ceremony let alone made a pouch for one.  I googled it to find out a bit more about it, and for the ceremony the rings are placed in the pouch  and are passed around  the wedding guests and they then say a prayer/blessing and then it winds its way to the groom, kind of sweet, this is what I came up with and hope she likes it.

So May although wet, cold, dull and grey wasn't so bad after all, but please summer come soon.
Have a great weekend xx

Spring Has Truly Sprung

The first Magnolia is out in all it's glory today and what makes it so special to me!  well it was the last gift from my dad before he died  and I could not bear to leave it when we moved house not once but twice, but it suffered badly as it did not like moving one bit and paid me back with a few years of no flowers and very little growth, but with lots of TLC and feeding, today it burst open and gave  me some love back.
