Figurative Papier-Mâché Lamp Sculptures Illuminate a Room with Ethereal Elegance.

..

For nearly 10 years, Sophie Mouton-Perrat and Frédéric Guibrunet have combined soft lighting with delicate paper craft to create ethereal sculptures. Working under the name Papier à êtres, the duo uses the papier mâché technique to construct life-sized women clad in elegant, billowing gowns that double as lamps. The top portion of the unconventional, all-white lantern features the ladies’ upper bodies while their pleated skirts illuminate the space.
To produce these creations—which have been displayed in locales like the Paris Opera House—Mouton-Perrat and Guibrunet work in true collaboration. They are each responsible for half of the sculptures: Mouton-Perrat shapes the figures and concentrates on characters’ facial features, hair, dress, and graceful poses, while Guibrunet develops the base and lighting.

It may be Misty in the Tarn but even

7.30am, it is pleasantly warm, misty and damp this morning and  I love seeing leaves shining with the morning dew dripping. I know the sun will be shining later today but we are also due a storm later, so I had a stroll round the garden to see what's been happening overnight. I wasn't disappointed  either. xx

My Sambucus  Nigra Black Lace is starting to flower
 such tiny petals
My hosta is untouched this year, partly because I have raised it so high the snails don't stand a chance of getting to it.
I was given a Lemon Tree as a New Years gift and little lemons are on there way, look forward to adding  a few slices to my Vodka & Tonic later in the year.

Nature is amazing just look at the detail on this rose, wish you could smell it.

I think this is a fairy washing line and they even left a peg, wonder if i disturbed them

I have forgotten the name of this tree :(

What's not to love about Totes

Last week I bought a few calico tote bags and decided to pop over to Graphic Fairies to snap some gorgeous transfers. I did try to use an ordinary iron for this but ended up scorching the fabric and made a real hash of it. Luckily for me a friend has a heat transfer gizmo and kindly let me borrow it for awhile (going to be hard giving this machine back as it is fantastic), easy to use and produces a fabulous finished print. Now to list them.......

Boumalne Dades

Back to Morocco and this time to the Dades Valley which we drove through last year and stopped at the first place we came to after driving through  Boumalne Village. The owner Ibrahim made us one of the best mint teas I have ever had and we told him that we would come back to the valley in 2016. Well we did just that and spent 10 days and had several fabulous walks, the longest was called La Piste de Boutaghar and was 12klm in total, it was hot but a lovely cool breeze made walking easy and we stopped to have to mint tea with a Berber family they also shared their freshly homemade bread which you then dipped in olive oil, really delicious  both bread and oil. Our accommodation was basic but very clean and the food was excellent. I could prattle on but I think the pictures will give you the gist of it. Will I go back again.... Yes  inshallah..... Thank you Chez Limni for such a great experience.

This bridge freaked me out as it was very narrow and wobbly, kept trying not to look at the water but couldn't help it.

Fibre Doodling

Mid morning and I am sewing (no surprises there then) when I managed to  knock (well more swipe) my thread catcher of the table and as I bent down to pick it up it flipped over and yip all the threads plopped out. I was quite mesmerised with all the colours and thought to myself that it must be time for a fibre doodle. Have not done this very often (does it show)? Still here is how I made  the fibre heart.
Took a piece of cotton and scattered a few bits of lace and fabric pieces on to it
then placed a piece of Water Soluble on top
stitched round all edges and then  went for free motion stitching
soaked in water for 10 minutes and left it to dry, then cut out the heart shapes
tada and not even sure if I like this but certainly used up my scrap threads

This is my Jean Jeanie bag I was sewing when the thread fell out and well the rest is history.

I declare today an International Lemon Curd Day

I looooooooove lemon Curd and decided to make some this morning, it took me right back to my childhood when I used to stand  and watch my mum make it, waiting eagerly for the bowl to lick clean, the smell of the lemon zest and butter makes your mouth water. It is raining this morning and is dark grey outside, do I care? not a bit. Pot of tea and hot crusty bread with a generous dollop of Lemon Curd and it is instant sunshine.

Happy Lemon Curd Day

Bringing Back the Retro Look

A friend asked me if I wanted four retro dining chairs (about 2 years ago now) and I fell in love  with them  despite them having disgusting red fabric) so I of course said "Yes please". They have been stored away waiting patiently for a makeover. Last week if you remember I recovered an old armchair (the red patchwork one) and while I was buying the fabric my eye fell on a multi coloured delicious fabric and just knew I had found the fabric for the chairs. So here they are and after the big arm chair makeover these were a breeze to do.

Last seat

I love the way the back falls below the seat
all done

Sorry for the colour variation but this is pretty close.

My daughter popped over with a Desigual dress she bought  for €1 and it was to small for her much to her annoyance, so she left it with me along with the words " I know you will do something with it" so I decided to  turn it into a bag for her. The back inside of the dress was a perfect fit for a pocket which you can see I popped onto the front of the bag, the sleeves became the handles and the sash round the waist became a bow.   See you soon.
